THE CITY

Why it makes sense in Madrid

  • 01

    The city already rides electric

With the expansion announced in March 2026, BiciMAD, Madrid's public bike scheme, grows to 653 stations and 8,015 e-bikes on the street (Madrid City Council). Your guest or your resident already knows what an e-bike is. You give them one at the door, with your brand on it.

    Tourism twelve months a year

In 2025, Madrid's hotels welcomed 10.3 million travellers and recorded 21.3 million overnight stays (INE). February, the quietest month, had 1.48 million nights; October, the busiest, 2.01 million. A bike that's used all year round earns its keep.

A green ring of almost 65 km

The Anillo Verde Ciclista circles the city with almost 65 km of lane separated from traffic along practically its whole route, giving access to large parks, sports facilities and schools (Madrid City Council).

    Almost 49,000 new university students

The six public universities in Madrid's single admissions district admitted 48,777 students for the 2025-2026 academic year (Universidad Complutense). Not every residence is next to campus, and they all have to get to class.

WHO PAYS

How it's paid in Madrid, depending on your building

Hotels

You pay a fee per bike; the guest pays whatever you say.

The fee is monthly and per bike. From there, the guest price is your call. Our proposal: no cost for guests who booked direct on your website and a daily price for those who come from an OTA (for example, €10 a day), which is how you recover the fee. The guest taps their NFC room card and off they go. Your reception doesn't hand anything over or charge anything. Maintenance, insurance and support are included.

Student residences

Included by the residence, or paid by the student.

If the residence includes it, it pays the fee and the student pays nothing. If you'd rather it cost you nothing, the student pays €5 for each day they ride and your residence pays nothing. Both options give you something concrete to show families when they visit.

Flex living

Included in the stay: the building pays.

In a flex-living building, the bike is one more service in the contract: the building pays the fee and the resident takes a bike whenever they need one, without paying extra. For someone who works on the Castellana and lives in another neighbourhood, it's a way to get to the office without relying on the metro.

ON THE ROAD

Typical uses in Madrid

  1. 01

    Madrid Río, end to end

The park along the Manzanares is flat and car-free. Perfect for a first long ride, from the Puente de Segovia to Matadero.

  2. 02

From the river to the centre, uphill

Central Madrid sits quite a bit higher than the river. Climbing from Madrid Río to the Royal Palace or Plaza de España is exactly where you're glad of the electric assistance.

  3. 03

The Paseo del Prado and the Retiro

They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. By bike, you can see both in a morning and be back at the hotel in time for lunch.

WHAT WE GET ASKED

Madrid: frequently asked questions

If BiciMAD is already electric, what does a fleet of my own add?

BiciMAD is for the whole city and lives in stations. Your fleet is in your building, carries your brand and is used only by your guests, students or residents. You don't depend on there being a free bike at the station on the corner.

Isn't Madrid too hilly for cycling?

For a regular bike, sometimes. For an electric one, no: the assistance helps up to 25 km/h and, on a full battery, it's good for about 40 km.

And in the summer heat?

In the Retiro, the average July high is over 32 °C (AEMET): in summer, mornings and evenings are best. The rest of the year the weather plays along, with a 15 °C average and about 59 rainy days a year.

My hotel is on a narrow street in the centre. Where do the bikes go?

We look at it with you before installing: at the door, in an inner courtyard or in the garage, if you have one. The bikes can handle a night outdoors, so you don't need a room to store them.

Who helps the guest if they have a problem?

We do. At hotels, help comes up in the language of the guest's phone, and we reply 7 days a week. Your team doesn't have to play mechanic.

WHERE WE OPERATE

E-bikes in 9 provinces across Spain.

Not in your province? Tell us where you are: the fleet travels.
